What’s my Goal?
Work together to improve the construction experience, from a single domestic property to large scale developments. Having the right tools, plant and equipment is the key to a successful project – save time and money by having the right gear. Let’s take the pain and effort of finding and comparing the right equipment for your site.
Who am I?
My name is Tony Da Silva and been involved in the construction industry for over 25 years. I have always been interested in construction and how things are constructed. Having worked on the tools, in construction management and more recently my own property developments, I have developed a keen understanding of what makes a project successful.
In the beginning…
After a brief stint in university studying Fine Art and Sculpture, it dawned on me that I was never going to be good enough to be an artist nor did I like the idea of becoming a teacher so after a year I decided to return home to make a fresh start.
At the age of 19, plodding around for couple of years in a job I enjoyed but couldn’t see my future in. Back then I was only interested in martial arts and body building, however I realised I had always been handy at building and repairing things particularly around the home. It was then I decided I wanted a carrier in the construction industry.
Construction Management Degree
I wanted a degree in Construction Management, but to do this I needed to get into the construction world. I quit my job in sales and started in new job as an apprentice painter and decorator, this got me on to building sites and enabled me to enrol in a lengthy part-time course which would eventually lead to gaining my degree.
After three years learning my trade as a decorator, in 1999, I was offered a role as a trainee Quantity Surveyor (Cost Manager) for a large Construction firm. I continued my part-time courses eventually attaining my Batchelor of Science Degree through London Southbank University.
Home Inspection, Domestic Energy Assessment Diploma
I followed this up with a Diploma in Home Inspection and Domestic Energy Assessment in 2007. The Home Inspection element helped me gain a deeper understanding of existing properties, historic construction, building fabric & materials composition, fault finding. Whereas the Domestic Energy Assessment portion opened my eye to energy consumption, heating methods and efficiency.
